Haus Hislop, built in 2006, is located in the pretty hamlet of Inneralpbach. Inneralpbach is situated deep in the heart of the Alpbachtal (tal meaning valley) where the first settlement is known to have begun more than 1000 years ago. The village lies at some 1000 metres above sea level, at the foot of the area's highest peak, the Grosse Galtenberg, 2424m.

Alpbachtal Valley has a population of 2,600 and occupies a beautiful location on a sunny plateau at 1,000m above sea level. Thanks to its homogenous architectural style and lovely floral decorations Inneralpbach makes a wonderful holiday destination. The Alpbachtal valley is an all year round resort.

Close by is the village of Alpbach, famous for winning, on numerous occasions, the title of ‘most beautiful village in Austria. Every year since 1945 the village has been hosting the "European Forum Alpbach", an event which attracts leading representatives from the fields of science, politics, culture, and trade and industry. The community of Alpbach promotes and seeks harmony, beauty and cultural identity. Since 1953 all buildings have, by law, been designed and built in the traditional Alpbach style.

Because the road up the valley to Alpbach was not surfaced for vehicles until 1926, the relative isolation of the village ensured unique and unspoilt architecture and folk traditions. Tourism is the main source of income for today's  local residents, but there are still 105 working farms in the Alpbach area, about the same number as a hundred years ago.

Just up the hill behind Haus Hislop is a very old farm, now the Heimat museum - the Vorder-Unterberg Farm complete with its own chapel and smokery, built in 1636-38 and lived in until 1952. Just below is the village church, tiny but much loved. Within a few minutes walking distance of Haus Hislop there are three restaurants, several bars and the local brewery.

Haus Hislop, with its wonderful situation, having walking routes that start here in the hamlet, together with ski lifts and runs also right from the centre, is quite unique. With the free bus service, the bus stop 3 minutes’ walk from the front door of Haus Hislop, means that many people find they don't actually need a car.
